American Migration Concerns

The presidential elections in the United States (US) have concluded, and Donald Trump has declared victory.

Known for his anti-immigrant stance, Trump was trying to build walls and take measures for the illegal immigrants entering especially from South America during his previous presidential term.

THEY TRY TO CROSS BEFORE TRUMP ARRIVES

After Trump’s election as president, illegal immigrants are trying to escape to the US. Mexican immigrants are moving towards the US border before Trump takes over in 2025.

According to the Mexican press, thousands of immigrants marching from Tapachula, a province of Chiapas in the south of the country, want to cross the border before the new president of the US takes office.

MAJORITY ARE NOT MEXICAN

It was noted that the majority of immigrants are of Chinese, Peruvian, Ecuadorian, Venezuelan, Colombian, Honduran, Salvadoran, Guatemalan, and Haitian descent.

Venezuelan immigrant Ehison Diaz, speaking to the Spanish EFE agency, pointed out the possibility of Donald Trump winning the election, saying, “Most of those leaving Tapachula set out of fear that Trump might win. If Trump wins, our dreams of entering the US may come to an end.”.

Honduran immigrant Nelson Mejia also emphasized their desire to cross the border to the US before the new president takes office, asking Mexican officials not to hinder them.

OVER 700,000 ILLEGAL ENTRIES TO MEXICO IN 7 MONTHS

According to the International Rescue Committee (IRC), over 700,000 migrants entered Mexico from January to July.

Many migrants from Central American countries are trying to reach the US through Guatemala and Mexico.
